At the IPTC metadata meeting at CEPIC in Dublin, Michael Steidl announced the coming availability of new IPTC panels for Photoshop CS3 and CS4. Developed by Electric Lane, these scripts will help to integrate the functionality that is included in Lightroom 3 and Photoshop CS5. As a matter of fact, the functionality that Graeme Cookson has built into these panels is much more developed than what one can find in the out-of-the-box implementation in LR3 and CS5.
Graeme, along with his partner in Electric Lane, Sarah Saunders, have developed the panels under a contract from IPTC. They have done a great job. I met Graeme when we spent three weeks teaching the African Photo Entrepreneurs together in August 2008. I was impressed by his depth of understanding, as well his sense of humor and even-temper.
The panels will be available later this summer (well, summer for those of us in the northern hemisphere). I’ll report back here once they become generally available.
