1  Software Discussions / Media Pro & Expression Media / Re: Expression Media -> iView backwards compatibility? on: October 09, 2009, 05:04:44 PM
Thanks for you thoughts. I am on the latest Quicktime (7.6.4) already. However, Expression Media can import PDFs (and .ai files) just fine.

Well...  I accepted that iView is now an old piece of software and that I could't hope for it to work in a new OS version. However, you are right in that if I could solve my iView crash problem there wouldn't be a need to upgrade or for all this messing around.

Hello there,

apologies if this has been asked before, but I don't think it has been answered really. Can I safely run Expression Media 2 and iView 3.1.3 side by side?

I've just moved to Leopard from Tiger (finally), and now my trusty iView crashes each time I tell it to import a PDF.
Is it a good idea to open and save the file in Expression Media just for that purpose?

This guy states that yes, they are. http://k7vi.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!5AF664BF5DA1FDBB!561.entry?sa=12611186 (right at the bottom of his post)

However, roberte here states that  the database (file) format changes and "isn't always backward compatible." http://thedambook.com/smf/index.php?topic=3290.msg18179#msg18179

Many thanks,

Christian
