Beta 6 of ImageIngesterPro (Mac only) is now ready for you to download.
This version provides support in its built-in database for nearly all of the IPTC metadata fields, organized to follow the contact, content, image, and status panels of the Bridge/Photoshop File Info panel. There is also a way to enter what I call Quick Fields at the time of ingestion (location, subject, etc.) that change too offten to be enetered into a database. There are many more macros for insertion into a metadata template, and a new Macro Lab that you can use to see what macros are available, see what they expand into, and try out your own. There's a built-in metatdata template, installed automatically, that incorporates all the the metadata in the appropriate places, so in most cases you won't need to create your own template at all. Lots of other minor features, as well.
The idea behind all of this is to enter as much metadata as feasible at ingestion time, so it's glued to the image (at least as a sidecar) very early in the processing. Obviously, metadata that depends on the individual image (e.g., description, rating) can't be entered by ImageIngesterPro, since it doesn't provide a way for you to look at the images. (That's what post-ingestion processing, via Bridge, for example, is for.) But, there's a lot that is known about the contents of the card that's about to be ingested, and ImageIngesterPro aims to make it as easy as possible for you to set that up just before you ingest.
