Hi, just discovered this forum. I have been using iView Mediapro for some time now as a replacement for ImageAXS Pro which I used years ago for cataloging my slides. ImageAXS allowed the user to choose in which database platform (meta)data is stored. I stored all data in a MS-Access database (other choises would be MySql, Orcale etc).

I have a database of several thousands of scanned slides (at preview format) with keywords (as a wildlife photographer each slides contains the species name in english and latin and data about location etc) in MS-Access. They can of course also be exported to CSV, Excell or whatever. Each entry in the database contains the name of the file and the metadata. E.g. :  "NMA02393, Lion, Pantera leo, Chobe NP, Botswana, May 2002"

Is there any way to import this data with a script into iView, so that this data will be coupled as keywords? Importing the images (scans) is of course no problem, but I do  not look forward to keywording them all over again as that would be a HUGE job!!!

Any suggestions?

Hans

Take a look at my "Update iView from Excel" at http://www.beardsworth.co.uk/iview.php. It lets you paste a csv file into Excel, then select items in iView and run an Excel macro to pass over data. It uses the filename to lookup data. To adapt it, you'll need to be OK with Excel and scripting, but the code is commented.

John,

thanks for the help. I´ll download the file and try if i can get it to work. I can work with Excel but I haven´t written any scripts before.
