I recently purchased a D2x after much angst about whether to sell all my Nikon gear and lease out my first born son to purchase a Canon 1 DS Mark II.  Shortly after that I bought the new Macbook Pro to go with my D2x only to find out that Nikon Capture doesn't load on the new Intel chipped Mac.  Emailing Nikon I was told that they were aware of the problem and that "when and or if" they decide to put out a fix for the problem they'd let me know.  I pointed out to them that General Motors  was using the "when and or if" mentality and you know what that got them.  Nikon didn't budge.

I went to the Apple Store to talk to them about the problem and was greeted by a young "Genius" who pointed out the "Image Capture" program on the Macbook's desktop which not only recognized my D2x but downloaded NEF captures to the desktop and opened them sweet as you please.  So, if you're having similar problems I reccommend using Image Capture as the solution.  I haven't used it on a shoot yet but it works great in testing.

Stewart,
That MacbookPro is stuck in a kind of limboland.
Unless you use Aperture, the best solution as far as speed is to boot in Windows and run a Windows app on it.
I would guess that Apple is probably fairly unhappy that Adobe moved to a 24 month cycle for this product rev (due to the Macromedia merger).
Hmmm.
