First a quick thank you to Peter and John for all their help 3 years ago.  Along with the great book, this forum helped me move to my current DAM process using primarily Lightroom with occasional use of Bridge which has (knock on wood) been running smoothly for several years now.

A question which I hope you can help with:

I run Lightroom4 on my MacPro and have all image files on one of the drives (backed up to remote drives).
I am going on holiday with my MacBook Pro and would like to take the opportunity to catch-up with some out of date keywording.
I would like to take the Lightroom catalog, with previews on my laptop, but without taking the original image files.

Is the following process going to work, or will Lightroom have an issue updating keywords when it cannot "see" the original files?

Catalog export.
Check "include available previews"
Do NOT check "export negative files"
This should create .lrcat AND .lrdata files which I can copy to laptop
Add and update keywords while seeing previews on laptop
Return to office and import Catalog onto MacPro

Any help of suggestions you can give would be much appreciated
