Is it possible to take the date taken (exiff DDMMYY)and write it to the file name in a batch or action using either Photo Mechanic or Portfolio 8.5.
In PM I currently write the file name(camera generated) to the caption for example.
I have thousands of photos(wth camera generated file names) from say 10 different cameras to give file names to.
I want to use a company identifier like CNN then DDMMYY then sequential number.
I assume that RAW is not possible.

I'm sure this can be done with exiftool. Much information about it can be found on this forum under scripting.

Xnview a freeware has powerfull tool
batch renaming cant get how to put a sequential number in but almost there
how to parse exiff date to filename got me there
hey its one hell of a freebie

found a software called PIE ie Picture Information Extractor seems the best so far
it caches previews  doesnt save metadata changes until you pailenames look filenames look good
