Hi, I just bought a new 3T firewire drive for my Mac Book Pro. I'm guessing zeroing out will take me 8 hours, judging from the 4 hours for 1T I saw posted here. Is it worth doing, especially since I won't be able to see a SMART report on it. Will the drive self-analyze and not write to bad sectors? Seems like a lot of time!

Using MacBook Pro, Snow Leopard, and Lightroom.
