Hi Peter,

I bought your book a few years ago and we discussed with you about our PicaJet Photo Organizer software.
Honestly it's the best book about DAM for photographers even after 4 years.

I've seen the neighbor topic about the request for networked photo management system and would like to introduce our Daminion for your auditory.

This is a new server based photo management software program with TRUE multi-user capabilities. We develop it since 2008. We are also developers of the PicaJet and RoboImport - tools for digital photographers.

Daminion Standalone version is free. It focused on image cataloging, supports XMP, IPTC, MWG, hierarchical tags, relative paths to the catalogs, version control, saved searches, etc… I hope you like it!
Daminion Server will be available very soon.

I'd be appreciating to hearing any feedback from you about Daminion. Thank you!

I hoped for some experience feedback.
Is there a comparision to make with Expression Media? (now Media Pro)

Hi Roelof,

I appreciate for your interest in Daminion!

The major benefits of Daminion (Server) over MediaPro
- Multiple users support
- Controls access to media content by user roles
- Version Control
- Multiple catalogs can be opened simultaneously as web-browser pages and photos can be moved between catalogs
- Open source catalog format based on SQLite

Just in case: some time ago we published a comparison between Daminion and Lightroom on our blog
where we compared file management features between the products.

This is the most frequently asked question Smiley We have no plans to port Daminion for Mac at the moment.
Our roadmap for 2011 includes releasing the Daminion Server and continuously improving the products functionality, performance and stability.

But our Server is built on .NET platform that can be deployed on a Mac via Mono Framework. So I don't exclude the possibility to port the Server and Client to Mac in the future.

We don't test Daminion with virtual environment (like Parallels Desktop or Wine) on a Mac.
