photos for specific things like for ebay etc, & for art reference

Should I place these photos with all my other general photos? or have separate directories for them?

so far I have a directory called documentary, where I place photos that are for specific purposes like shoes to sell on ebay, contest entries, as these are not necessarily for artistic purposes.

I also have photos that I shoot for a specific art project or for reference for it, I have a directory for these too, but have found that these photos could also serve for other purposes too, so perhaps I should try to keep my directories to a minimum, as all my photos could be potential art reference, those shoes I shot for ebay to sell could be a reference for an art project later on.

I have found the more directories I have different things, I fall behind on disc back up on them.

Any ideas on how to sort these?

Hello Sossity,

I would use DAM software like Expression Media, Lightroom or idImager to organize your photo files.
So don't organize with your windows directories.
Maybe you could reed some topics about this issues else on this forum.
