ACT NOW! Expression Media 2 free for iView customers

Phase One, the new owners of Expression Media have just extended a great offer to all iView license holders. Until June 30, you may claim a free copy of Expression Media as long as you have a valid iView license.
Once you have Expression Media 2, you will also qualify for a free copy of Capture One software.
Hurry - this must be done in the next month.
Note that this wil not disable your copy of iView in any way - you can keep things exactly the way they are now, if you don't feel like doing a migration at the moment.
Don't let this opportunity pass you by.

I wonder if iView finally get upgraded past 2007? It's still the best dam-er out there.

Jim,
If you have iView, upgrade to Expression Media - it really is iView with (mostly) some upgrades. Go get that serial number now.
BTW, if memory serves, iView itself has not been updated since early 2006. It's remarkable that it still has an arguable claim to the best desktop DAM software after all that time.
I'd love to see Yan, the original creator of the software working on it again. We'll see...

I have Expression. By upgrade I guess I meant "update". Modernization. Is Yan still involved at all I wonder?

Jim,
Yes, I mean update. Do you have EM2?
I corresponded with Yan today. I'd love to see him back on the project. When I'm in Copenhagen in a few weeks, I'll certainly be pushing this.

Thanks for the pointer. It took me a few days to get my key but it eventually it arrived.
One thing that surprised me is how similar EM2 appears to iview. After an initial glance, the only thing that seems different is support for hierarchical keywords. (I'm sure there's more stuff that I'm just missing.)

I have an old key for iView (probably from 2006 if it is any good). Do you have a link to the download site? I've looked but so far have not located what I'm looking for.
Thanks, Sue

Peter linked to it on the EM forum, but here it is again
http://www.phaseone.com/en/Software/Expression-Media-2/Special-offer.aspx
You need to go to the link specifically for iView. It's a text link about half way down the page (I had trouble finding it) and basically lets you submit your iview key for an EM key instead. Once they send you the new key, the email will have a link to a page where you can download it.

I see the link for iView license holders and I clicked there, but when I try to fill in my information, it doesn't fit their serial number template (which is 6 blocks of 5 digits or letters each, separated by hyphens). My license number has 5 blocks of 5, plus 1 extra (so 26, instead of the 30 they ask for), and it refuses to go through. Has anyone else had this problem, or do you know how I can contact someone at PhaseOne directly? Thanks very much.

Sue
I was in a similar situation. Had only the license key for iView 2 which was only 26 characters. I contacted Phase One and pleaded my case by sending them that code plus a screen shot for iView 3, which was still loading (my Expression Media had quit loading for whatever reason- so I was stuck) and they sent me a license Key for Expression 2. Good for them! Not sure what happened to my key for 1View3, it was lost somewhere in upgrading computers. Lesson for me is to record the key in another file and keep it updated.
Hope it works for you

Peter - thank you SO much for pointing this out; I've just received my license codes. Here's my question now - you say it doesn't disable iview - BUT - on both my home Mac and work Windows computer I've been living with older versions of Quicktime, to keep iview happy. Do you know if the current Expressions Media will work with that, or will it need the latest version? Specifically, how far can I go downloading and/or installing EM before I might create a problem for my existing (and functioning) old version of ivew? The main urgency here is that I do want to go ahead and get my free copy of Capture One, but it looks like I'll need to actually download EM to do so; the license code I received doesn't look like the right set of numbers for that yet.
Also - when I get my courage up to try migrating over - can you direct me to any suggestions and warnings on that subject (I'm guessing it's already been discussed here) or shall I just go with the instructions from EM?
Thanks again. Phase One so far seems to be saying/doing all the right things; I'd sure like to see my favorite piece of software get resurrected!

Diehoven (name?)
I don't know about quicktime compatibility. I'd try to run it with the currently installed version.
I can't think of any specific warnings, other than to say that you should archive current iView catalogs before the migration, just because...
