Hi

Last week, I could assign a metadata template to a file, or replace it, leaving the keywords intact.
Now, after doing some editing on these templates, if I assign them to a file (or use replace), the keywords get erased.
Doing this editing of the templates I left "keywords" unchecked", because last time I did this I came to the conclusion that this was the way to keep the keywords, but now .... no such luck.

I seem to be having troubles understanding Bridge and how it works with metadata templates, and I'm sure I'm just knocking my head against the wall because of some minor oversight. Could anyone direct me..

Using CS3 with a Mac OS 10.5.

Thanks in advance..

Thorir,
Can you make a new fresh template and see if the behavior persists?
Did you make the template in the Template editor in the Bridge Tools menu?

If you are adventurous, you might want to open the template up in a text editor and see what is visible. Keywords are part of the dc:subject That term should be totally absent from the template.

thanks for the tip peter (i'm taking notes)

however, i messed some more with the templates (within bridge), closed it (bridge) and opened again, and the problem seems to have fixed itself. and i have no idea what i did.. duh.!

but you're right, learing to edit these in text editors would probably be the best thing, bridge cs3 has been somewhat erratic in my experience.

many thanks!
