Filling the IPTC Image Date Created Field
«

Is there a way to 'preload' an IPTC field or two while using IFC?
I am primarily interested in placing the date of the shot into the IPTC Image, Date Created field. I am currently using metadata templates to do this, but it can get cumbersome (like picking the wrong one....or forgetting to update the field)...
Perhaps another script, like 'Filename to Title' can be adapted? Being Java 'challenged' I'd not know where to begin....
Thanks

I like to do this, too, but I do it much later in the workflow, in iView. There's a standard script called, strangely, "Event Date from Capture" that I use.
Sorry... can't answer your specific question, though.

Henri,
Out of curiosity, why do you want to do this? What's wrong with simply accessing the EXIF data?

Peter,
When you look at 'File Info' in either Bridge, PS, or iView, the IPTC panel for the IPTC Image, Date Created field is blank and does not contain the actual date the image was created. I'd like IFC to automatically preload that field from the EXIF date at the time I run IFC. That is just prior to my inserting of keywords, location info etc.. Yes, I can add it manually while on the same panel where the location info is, but since the 'image' already has it, it would be nice if IFC could prefill that field. Less typing, less chance of error, etc....

It's more likely that a different script will be the best place to do that. Maybe Beardy would write one, or maybe I can get Tom to put it in Rank and file.
