Given the choice, which is the better format to use for archiving, DVD-R or DVD+R?

Joe,
Its been a while since I read about the differences between the two, but IIRC, their were some possible issues with -R discs with respect to archiving/storage. I wish I could provide you with more information, but I cannot research it at this time. The articles/posts may appear with a well-defined web search. sorry I cannot be of further assistance right now, but I am on multiple deadlines.

Joe,
The short answer is no optical medium is truly archival, but DVD+R is better than DVD-R. Here is a link that you may find helpful - or it may just be way more than you ever wanted to know about archival DVD.
