Workflow Suggestions?

I am a new forum member (first post!).  Been involved with photography for at least the last 40 years.  Finally decided to get serious about a workflow.  So far I have come up with the following:

1. ImageIngesterPro
2. Adobe Bridge
3. Adobe Camera Raw
4. Adobe DNG Converter
5. PS CS4
6. EM2 or IDimager

Guess my question is with item #6.  I am leaning strongly toward IDimager.  I think that further support and development in EM2 is doubtful at best.  Also, I am having trouble seeing the metadata that was added by ImageIngester in EM2.

Any suggestions or comments?

Maybe you could also give some idea about how many pictures you shoot and what your requirements are. if you're shooting hundreds of pictures a week, and need to get them adjusted by yesterday, then the answer would be very different from if you were a fine art guy with one or two pictures a week. Equally, if you are purely into photography, them Lightroom should be on that list, but if your cataloguing needs include other media types like video, another program would be needed.

As far as volume is concerned, for 5 or 6 months - not too many.  however, for the other months, a whole bunch!!  My druthers lean toward landscape and nature photography.  That said, I do get tagged on occasion for stuff like wedding photos and candids at banquets and gatherings.

I guess you could say I am an "advanced amateur", whatever that means.  I have looked over Lightroom, and I honestly cannot see what it brings to the party that I don't already have with the lineup I listed already.

Hi Bill,

Not that your initial list has any questionable programs, but Lightroom would offer you a simplified workflow as it could fully or partially replace all six programs, depedning on your needs.  You might want to play around with your proposed line-up and with Lightroom for a while before making a final decision.
