I use my iPhone with Trails. This keeps a tracklog, then you email yourself a copy of the .gpx file (within the app).

I then use HoudahGeo, Jeffrey's Geolocation plug-in or ImageIngester Pro to munge the gpx info to the images.

It is only the iPhone battery life that is an issue, but you can buy additional power units for the iPhone, as well as mitigate battery drain as much as possible, but turning brightness down, turning off 3G etc.

It works a treat!
