Hello Group, this is my first posting in the forum area.  In reading The DAM Book web site I came across the software section where Peter mentions that iView MediaPro is his favorite DAM software for Photographers.  I currently use Lightroom 2.0, mainly to catalog my photographs.  I do mostly nature photography with a little bit of family stuff.  My photos are all over a 1.5 GB external hard drive and I back up to another external hard drive.  I am still working on my cataloging technique and think that is where the DAM Book will come in handy.   As for DAM software, any suggestions and/or comments about iView MediaPro and/or Lightroom 2.0?

Regards

Welcome John!

Unfortunately iVMP is no longer.  Microsoft bought it up a few years ago.  Its new incarnation is Expression Media.  You can consider it, but there are other programs for consideration as well.  I would suggest browsing through the forum to see what others think about the programs they use.  There are many out there, but a few seem to meet the needs of many poseters here at the forum.  As my cataloging needs are light, I have been using Lightroom because it also serves as a RAW processor.  But, everybody's needs are different and you should take your time and find what works best for you.

Good luck,

John,
Platform?
How many images in the collection?
Do you use more than one computer for your images?
Do you "get" Lightroom?
