I've just come across the first edition, and it is answering many questions!  It references the Bridge version in Photoshop CS2.  I am assuming the new book edition will be based on CS4 (is that correct)?  I have CS3 and am wondering if the new edition  will help me decide what cataloging software to use along with that release?  If the second edition is built on having the Bridge version that comes with CS4, will it identify any situations/techniques that cannot work with the Bridge version that I have with CS3?   Or maybe Bridge is not a part of the workflow now?  (I haven't gotten very far in the first edition yet -- and definitely want to get the second).   I am REALLY looking forward to creating a DAM that can adapt to software and techniques of the future (although upgrading past CS3 is NOT in the near future -- I want to get into the correct cataloging software).  Thanks a lot!

Barbara,
The philosophy in the second book is more geared to understanding how things work, and making a workflow that fits you, rather than a more strict prescription of how to pull the levers.  (That said, I do provide solid workflow samples).  Those samples use CS4.

Another way to answer is to say that some updating has been done for CS3 and 4 functionality, most of it is cosmetic, rather than integral. (Since there were not huge changes in the program between versions).

Thanks for the quick reply.  I definitely like to understand the workings -- am glad the version of PS does not matter too much.  Will do some more reading of the old edition until the new one comes out (glad it's soon)!  I just want to feel fairly confident before buying new software that it will do what I need to implement the work flow for my situation.

Thanks for a great book!
