Photoshop CS4 Locks Up While Opening

After functioning perfectly since installation many months ago PS CS4 has suddenly become unresponsive when opening while reading preferences. Does anyone know if there is a keystroke for resetting preferences when opening, similar to Bridge (ctrl+alt+shift)? Uninstalling and reinstalling didn't help and since it won't open I'm not able to deactivate for a clean reinstall.

I've searched this forum and the Adobe forums but to no avail. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Running XP Pro SP3. Bridge and all other programs seem to be working normally.

Update, after searching the Adobe Knowledge Base again, I discovered that the Ctrl+Alt+Shift are the correct keystrokes for resetting preferences to the default settings. Here are Adobe's instuctions; http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb405012.
