What is the current state of opinion regarding making scans of 4"x5" and medium format transparencies? It was previously stated that camera scans of 35mm slides were superior to those from a dedicated film scanner, whilst medium and larger formats were better from scanners. Is that still the case now, in 2011?
In my case I have been using an Epson V750 Pro for 6x6 cm up to 4"x5". I'm considering using my D3x connected to a Schneider enlarging lens via a bellows. On the other hand I might invest in a macro lens. But in both cases, only if the quality is better than from the V750.
