... however, the link to the beta download page is broken. Ho hum ...
They don't say anything about DNG support other than a brief mention on the RAW format support page under Sony cameras (?)
"Adobe DNG (preliminary support)"

I have just done the download and yes I at first found it broken but upon backing out and back in again I was able to download it. I have had problems like this before with teh Phase One site. And the info on the DNG support is not only brief in the extreme but also ambiguous in that it might mean that it only applies to the cameras listed, or that it is only a preliminary DNG support for all cameras.

I've not downloaded it yet but apparently Capture One 4 is the replacement for Capture One LE. The name change is enough to get those of waiting for an update to Capture One Pro. Capture One Pro v4 is still "under development". That's the version, if any, that's apt to have the features we're looking for.
... still waiting...

Hi,
When I first opened C1v4 it looked and felt a lot like Pixmantec RSP.
First remember this is Beta 1 so many things will change. Phase One have always said the LE version would be out first and all v3 owners would get it free including those with the Pro version.
Initial DNG support does appear to be for those cameras Capture One natively supports. It does offer DNG
export
and is now one of the few apps to do so, the first major company to offer it. Unfortunately for this beta it isn't embedding any thumbnail or preview. OTOH it is trying to embed something so I see this as good! At this early stage C1v4 doesn't save its settings in the DNG.
Maybe we have to wait for C1v4 Pro to get the promised IPTC and XMP support. This beta has doesn't pass embedded IPTC nor offer any way of entering it. FWIW Capture One 3.7LE does pass legacy IPTC.

Hi,
I'm beginning to like DNG in Capture One 4 beta. It is very much a beta. For DNG export it lacks important support for embedding thumbnails, previews and settings. It also produces wildly different colour and tone depending on what you do to the same DNG. In the end I like the results from:
1. Converting to DNG in Capture One 4
2. Embedding full size previews in Photoshop CS3
3. Converting to TIFF back in Capture One 4
To my eye this produces much better results than simply going to DNG first via the Adobe DNG converter. For some reason Capture One 4 produces over-saturated colour from these DNGs. There is still a long way to go with Capture One 4 and DNG support but it's a positive start.

Robert,
Are you able to have a dialog with Phase?
This sounds exactly like the kind of multi-application workflow testing that many companies overlook as they work to get their product out the door.

Hi Peter,
Referring to my conversation with Phase as a "dialogue" would be optimistic! They are responding but appear quite paternal. But they are listening!
