Color profile in DNG preview

I'm finally taking the plunge and adopting a DNG workflow. I've been converting my cr2 files to dng using either the LR2 converter or the stand alone Adobe dng converter Version 4.5.0.175. I'm embedding a full size preview. I then import the dng files into IVMP 3. In IVMP when I convert a file to a tiff it winds up with an sRGB color profile. My assumption is that the DNG converter creates the full size preview with an sRGB profile, so when an image is converted, it remains sRGB. Is there a way to covert files from IVMP with a different color profile?
Besides the dialog boxes and presets, is there a difference between the DNG converter in LR2 and the Adobe DNG converter?

Dennis,
While the DNG spec provides for other profiles for embedded previews, no one does it at the present time. There's not really a point in having IVMP convert to profile - no additional colors will be added, as you know.
If you need a conversion from the DNG data that is in larger color space, then you'll wnat to open the DNG with Photoshop or Lightroom (While will be a likely workflow anyway, if you need the larger color space - you'll probably want to make final tweaks to the images befoe output to TIFF).
As an aside, I suggest you take a look at the output you get with sRGB vs a larger color space. For many images, there won't be a huge difference in straight output. (The difference really shows up when you need to push the color around in Photoshop - but those outputs should he 16 bit custom output as described above).

Peter,
I was not really concerned about the lack of larger color spaces - sRGB works fine for most purposes. I just wanted to make sure I was working properly and wasn't missing something. So many dialog boxes, so little time. The quality of the full sized DNG preview is quite spectacular and, as you have preached, it is more than adequate for 90% of your imaging needs.
FYI, I have finally made the decision to go all DNG becuase of the improvements in ACR and LR2. In the past I felt I could get a better conversion from Canon's DPP. However, with all the improvements and additional adjustments (vibrance, clarity, fill, etc.) and the addition of camera specific profiles in ACR and LR2, I no longer see a substantial diifference between the DPP conversions and what is possible with LR2 and ACR. If there are any advantages at all in using the manufacturers' software these are far outweighed by the huge advantages you gain from a DNG & IVMP workflow.
Thanks for all your input over the past several years. You are the DAM MAN !
Happy New Year !
