We have an Archive of 6,000 images in Iview. We have created 15 Custom Fields for additional information not covered in keywords. We have tried importing the files into Lightroom and the keywords come through fine, but the Customized field information is lost. Is there any way to successfully transfer this information? Or to add the customized fields in Lightroom after the transfer has occurred? Any info would help.

Lightroom does not support custom fields... however, if you can map the iView custom fields into standard IPTC fields, for instance, and then embed that in your files, Lightroom will pick them up.

Actually, Lightroom 2 does support custom fields, and they can be shown in the Metadata panel and accessed by smart collections and the filter panel. However, this is only possible via the SDK, and they are currently not mappable to XMP addresses. I don't recommend using them unless you really know what you're doing with LR and the SDK.

How is that done exactly (mapping the iView custom fields in standard IPTC fields)?
