After going back into Bridge and making some adjustments to the DNGs in Camera Raw, ACR takes a minute or so to 'update settings'. While it does this, is it also updating the embedded preview - or do I need to do this separately via the dropdown menu in ACR?

Thanks,
Alex

Alex,
In the Camera Raw preferences, you can choose the option to Update the JPEG preview.  This tells Bridge or Camera Raw to always keep the embedded preview in sync with the ACR settings.

While this is a good practice, it does mean that the computer does have a lot of work to update the DNG file any time settings are changed. And since the DNG is a TIFF, this means that the file has to be completely rewritten, which can take a few seconds.

Does that clear it up?
