Urgency field and Labels
«

I was reading a pdf from iView on workflow compatability with Photoshop CS2. It mentioned being able to read the star ratings from work done in Bridge. It also mentioned being able to import and export labels (between iView and Bridge), via the urgency field. I have had no luck getting this to work. Am I missing something?

You actually have to use Rank & File to make this happen. However it still doesn't work. This is a known problem that keeps popping up with no known fix from iView as of yet. If you want more info, just search the forums for "urgency".

Dan,
I'll be in Orlando with a bunch of iView people from Sunday to Tuesday. We WILL get this figured out.
(I hope).

Peter,
Great! Great time to go to Orlando too! I was there in January a few years back. I couldn't believe I was seeing people watering their lawns!
I'll recap the two iView problems here for easy reference. Here's two excerpts from earlier threads:
Quote
I've come across a minor bug with Caption Maker when used after an iView Convert Image Files to JPEG on a DNG preview. If the iView DNG image has a colored label assigned to it, when you run Caption Maker on the output JPEG, Caption Maker pops up a dialog with the following message, "The file contains file info data which cannot be read and has been ignored". I still get the captioned output file, but the "Created Date" that I place on the bottom right shows the current date rather than the image capture date. I have to make sure I remove my colored labels in iView before running Convert Image Files. Have you experienced this? Thanks.

I just did a little more testing with the Urgency field tonight. It works one way correctly for JPEG's, that is iView to Bridge, but not the other way, and I am doing a sync annotations for import with prefer original. It doesn't work either direction for DNG's. Hope that helps.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one trying to figure this out. I've been beating my head against the wall for the past hour.

Peter,
A couple of other things I would mention to iView if they don't know the problem:
1) Make sure they test on both Window's and Mac
2) Make sure they test with DNG's and derivatives from both NEF and CR2 Raws
Thanks,

Dan,
Will do. It seems there are several problems that are associated with CR2 files. Don't have one to test with, but if I need some files, I'll post here.

Peter -
I can send you whatever you need for your meetings with the iView guys. I'm all Canon.
Good luck, and happy bug-killing!

The last message on this subject is dated Feb 2006, has there been any progress getting the labels from Bridge to transfer to iview?
I have been uploading DNG's and the color labels are not coming up. Any help?

The Labels in Bridge are an entirely different animal than the Labels in iView.
It is probably impossible to get this to really interchange (too long to explain right now). This is apart from getting iView to be able to see the Bridge Labels, which is a much easier problem to tackle.
