ACR/Develop Settings

In the File Handling section of IIP, there is a drop down menu for ACR/Develop Settings. The two choices are [none] and [refresh]. Is this where I can select the new camera profiles that are offered in ACR 4.5? If so, how do I select the appropriate profile(s)? Clicking on [refresh] or [none] has no effect.

Aram,
This part of the interface looks at any saved settings from Adobe Camera Raw or Lightroom.
I've attached the one I use. It does the following:
1. Sets Shadows to Auto. This will ensure that the black slider is moved to the right until there is a real black somewhere in the photo. I fiund this most helpful.
2. Sets Calrity to +50. This adds some pop to the photos that loooks good for my NEF files.
3. Sets Vibrance to +10. Again, this gives the images some pop.
4. Sets the Sharpness to 75. This is for the "proofing" of the images - makes them snappy.
To use this:
1. Download the file
2. Change the extension from txt to XMP.
3a. On Mac, place the file in Users>Username>Library>Application support>Adobe>Camera Raw>Settings
3b. On PC, place the file in C/: >Documents and Settings>UserName>Application Data>Adobe>CameraRaw>Settings
4. Then you can relaunch IIP, or use the refresh command. Apply the settings on import.

Peter,
When I try to access the settings file in your post I get the message "It seems that you are not allowed to download or view attachments on this board.". What do I need to do to be able to view attachments?

I get the same message and am unable to download the file.
Peter, thanks for the explanation. I think I understand its purpose better. Is it possible to add to the script and request that it apply the new camera profiles? If so, how would that be done?

Hmm, I guess that's part of what we turned off when the spammers struck.
Okay, try it like this.
www.theDAMbook.com/downloads/IIP_Defaults.xmp.zip
Then unzip and install the file as previously instructed.
Let me know if that works.

I've seen a video on the web where the profiles were saved as a preset. You'd be able to access the preset then. I have the WOW free presents and some of those are useful.
I'll try and track the video down again for more information.

It was the Aug 27th entry on the Lightroom Killer tips site.
If you haven't come accross this site before it is worth a look.

Thanks for the tip, Chris. I went to the Lightroom Killer Tips site and watched the Aug 27th video and it was extremely informative.
