I recently ingested (both using LR and II) 3-5 times form a couple of cards 4-6 GB of files that would show up in back up ddrives but NOT show up in LR.  I am working with a Mac Pro 5 Gb ram ingesting to a nearly full 500GB RAID.  With Bridge I can locate the file folders as I had named them with the usual DAM convention but they are not in the LR realm.  Strangely while they are ingesting they show up in the grid view as ormal with the tracking thingee showing the progress.
Thoughts?

Have you imported them into Lightroom catalog?

Use File>Import Photos from Disk or Import Photos from Device (i.e. camera or card reader).

I imported to catalog just as I have done since LR 1.0 and 10K images.  It is only the last 4 cards worth that have not shown up in LR.

Keith,
Are these duplicate files (the reference to backup drives is sort of confusing).
Or are they files from a camera not supported by your version of Lightroom?
How about a simple declarative step-by-step.

I used IIpro to ingest files shot with 5DMK2 and D-Lux 3 into LR.  (I also tried using LR directly to import and the same thing happened) I have set the process to make a copy of the files to a separate drive as archive, and to import into LR 2.3.  I am using a Mac pro with an external HD for archive, internal RAID for working and external backup and project drives external as well.
The files are in the archive drive (and still on the cards as yet) but obviously uncatalogued

Keith,
I'm still not clear on what happened.

The folders for the ingested files are not there in LR.  The files exist in folders on a dupe/backup drive but in the folder list in LR there is no listing and the files/folders are not to found in LR.  The last 4-6 times I ingested files form both CF cards and SD cards from two different cameras they did not show up in folders on the folder list the way that the lst three years of imported files/folders have.

So Lightroom refuses to import the files?
What if you drag and drop the file onto the Lightroom Library content window?

Seems that LR knows when the primary location is full (or getting so) and therefore will not attempt to add more files.  It did add the files to the back up location using the file names specified so that part was safe.  I think LR should give a message that the drive is full and to pay attention to your disk management, or maybe more graphic or sarcastic language.
thanks
