thumbnail rebuilding query
«
on:

Having converted my nef files to dng, I import into iview in the usual way. If I subsequently go back to Bridge and make adjustments to the dng's (cropping etc) these changes do not show up in the iview catalogue, even after either rebuilding the item or deleting and re-importing it. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks, Alex

You're certain they are rebuilding in Bridge? That's where I'd look first - prove it by importing them into a new iView catalogue and seeing if the rebuilt image is show.

That's interesting - tried your suggestion re a new catalogue, and the changes still don't show up - although I refreshed the Bridge thumbnails, and they show the correct versions. What now?

What version of Bridge are you using? There's a little menu in the ACR window which updates the previews.

Bridge v. 2.1.1.9 as part of CS3 10.0.1

In ACR, do you see the Basic tab? It has a funny little menu at its right.

Also look in Bridge at the Camera Raw Preferences - there's a section on DNG file handling.

OK, thanks. So if I use the Basic menu in ACR and go to 'update dng previews', selecting 'full size', does it just update the selected image or will it update everything in that folder? And then presumably I go over to Iview and 'rebuild item', or will it do an automatic update (folders set to update every five minutes)?
