Good morning Marc,

My ingestion workflow is to ingest with Image Ingester Pro (IIP), making a pre-ingestion backup and converting to DNG, and then have IIP open Photo Mechanic (PM) as the viewer application. I have the "Pass in folder" checkbox checked. However, the results have been inconsistent. IIP is almost always able to launch PM but more often than not no images are loaded. Furthermore IIP often quits unexpectedly after a successful ingestion.

The annoying bit is that it does occasionally work.

My configuration is as follows:

Image Ingester Pro v 2.3.04
Photo Mechanic v 4.5.3.1

MacBook Pro
2.5 GHz Core 2 Duo
2 GB RAM
OS X 10.5.2

I am also running the utility Path Finder, which is a "Finder replacement" (it is an application which performs the tasks the Finder would normally handle). However, tests with Path Finder not running yielded the same results. And the desired results were occasionally achieved with Path Finder running.

If I can provide any additional info please let me know.

Thanks in advance,

SteveM

Update: I tried it on my desktop machine:

Image Ingester Pro v 2.3.04
Photo Mechanic v 4.5.3.1

Power Mac
Dual 2.0 GHz PowerPC G5
3 GB RAM
OS X 10.5.2

With similar results.

Test 1: IIP quit unexpectedly without launching PM.
Test 2: IIP did not quit, launched PM, but the images where not passed to PM.

Note that the ingestion is always successful, it is only when it comes to launching PM as the view app that things go awry.

Thanks,

SteveM

SteveM--

Unfortunately, this is a problem that affects a very few users, and I have not been able to reproduce the problem. It is still under investigation.

Steve--

I've made another attempt to solve this problem by changing completely the way I launch the viewer. Try version 2.4.02, just uploaded the other day.

That's good news, Steve... please keep me informed as you continue to work with this new version.

Not all good news I'm afraid, Marc. Whatever you changed in v2.4.02 doesn't work for me. :-(

I have the Apps/Viewer preference set to '/Applications/Adobe Bridge CS3/Bridge CS3.app' with 'Pass in folder' checked, but the viewer never launches (although the log file says it does).

If I revert to v2.3.04 with the same preference set then the viewer always launches correctly, so it seems something is amiss with the latest version, at least on Mac OS X 10.4.11.

Robert

PSĀ  I've tried 2.4.02 without 'Pass in folder' checked too but the viewer still doesn't launch.

Robert--

This is something I'll have to check out... failure to launch the viewer is a new problem, no doubt the result of the change to the way I launch it.

I'll post something (probably in a new version) shortly...
