… catching the light!

(Short introduction: I am a Miami based photographer that is beginning to implement a DAM system. I have read Peter's book a few times and have been reading parts of this forum.)

I have been reading a lot about key wording though a controlled vocabulary and unsing one makes a lot of sense to me. I would like to know if there is a preference or difference of key wording in Bridge (which seems to allow hierarchical key wording) or in iView (which seems to only allow flat lists).

I may be completely wrong in my understanding of which program lets me do what - so please correct me, where I am wrong. I want to buy David Riecks Controlled Vocabulary and am wondering if it makes a difference to purchase the iView set or the Bridge set (or if the same list can go into both).

I have not personally tried David Riecks's controlled vocabulary in Lightroom. I suspect though that it might be a little slow. I did try it in Iview 2.5 and wasn't crazy about it. However, if you want to use it, it works great (just like it's supposed to) in Photo Mechanic.

Pascal -

I have used David Riecks controlled vocaulary in iView/Expression Mediaand I bascially like it and it has been very useful for me.  In fact I have created controlled vocabularies for different aspects of my keywording.  I have never used Photo Mechanic so I can not comment on it.

You may want to look at conrolledvocabulary.com, but i am thinking that if you pruchase it you can use it for all of your own applicaitons in that you can use it for bridge, EM, and PM if you want.  I would check to make sure, but i think I remember reading that.
