A friend asked me if he can shoot his D70s tethered. I'm not familiar with Nikon software as a Canon owner.

Would one of you enlighten me? Is there a tethered shooting option that comes with the standard Nikon software or will he have to buy something additional?

Peter -

All they will need is to use Nikon Camera Control Pro 2 software to shoot tethered.  From what I understand, unlike with Canon this software is not free.

Looks like you're right about that. I did some more detective work in the meantime and came up with the same thing. Looks like around $180, give or take a few.
