I have tried EM and found it to be rather hoaky, to be kind, since MS bought it from iMedia. Please someone help me understand why I should upgrade, maybe I would try it again.

Not sure what Hoaky means, so it's hard to respond.  It's also hard to give advice on how software can help you with no knowledge of what you do, or what you collection consists of, or what other software you use.
