Did a search and didn't find what I was looking for so am posting a new topic.  If this has already been answered before, I apologise in advance and please point me to the discussion thread.

Can Bridge (CS3) manage offline photos.  What I mean by that is can images that are on an external hard drive or on CDs/DVDs be imported into Bridge (as can be done in LR) and tracked there with keywords and a name for the offline media?

Thanks.

Bob,

Bridge is a media browser.  You can't view anything that is offline.  It will not create catalogs for later viewing by Bridge.

The program will write metadata to the files that are online and will read that metadata from the files at a later date.  It does not manage photos in the "DAM" sense of the word, but can be part of your DAM workflow, such as adding keywords and other metadata and making adjustments to the photos.

Thanks Mark.  Appreciate the quick reply.  That's what I thought but I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.
