Hi

I just downloaded the expression media trial. I use currently Sigma RAW files (x3f). There seem to be options within Xmedia to have the thumbnails in different sizes as a default setting.

But when I change the size, nothing happens. in the main screen (sorting screen). If I look at an image in the single view, the image looks bigger, but you see the pixels. So it seems not no make a new thumbnail, it is only enlarging the small one which looks ugly.

How can I change this? Or is this a sign that Sigma Raw files (Foveon sensor) are not supported with XMedia? (I have on this computer no NEF files unfortunately)

Thanks in advance

Dirk,
THe THumnbnail size refers to the largest size that the catalog builds on import (it can be downsized on the fly).

If you have not built them large enough originally, you'll want to rebuild (action menu).

I suggest starting off with 640 pixels, Medium quality.  When a catalog gets to about 20,000 items, this starts to take up too much room, and I rebuild at 640 pixels, low quality.

Hi

if I change the preferences, then mark all thumbnails and then hit "actions/rebuild items" nothing happens. Thumbnails stay the same size. Software seems even not to try to do anything....

Dirk,
Are the original files connected to the computer?

Dirk,
Do you have the thumbnail panel set to show the thumbnail at 640 pixels?
Do you have the image selected when you tell it to rebuild?
Do you see any activity in the bottom panel (click the dot/plus sign on the bottom left of the main window.)

HI

#1 Yes

#2 Yes

#3 with windows XP the plus signs (loupe) are in the upper right hand corner. But no activity there.

Sizes of thumbnails do not changeto 640. If I click on the plus signs, the grey boxes get bigger, but thumbnails stay the same size.

I made screenshots. How can I upload screenshot in this forum?

Dirk,
When you bring a new image in, does it build a 640 px thumbnail?
When you click on media view, can you zoom in to the image all the way?
Post images with the "Additional Options" at bottom left - Upload File.

Hi

#1 No

#2 No

so it seems that Emedia takes only the embedded jpeg of the RAW file but it can not handle itself Sigma SD14 RAW files. I have now access to a Fuji S5 pro RAW file and with that one it works properly...

Any idea how to get Sigma SD14 RAW file support in Emedia?

Thanks in advance
