I'm trying to figure out the best way to configure my mac G5 with 2 internal HDs. One is 250GB, the other is 500GB. My current plan is to use the 500GB drive for the OS, applications,  Photoshop scratch disk, and one backup copy of my working files. I'll use the smaller 250GB drive just for the main copy of the working image and document files. I also do a daily backup of the working files to a separate external HD. All my finished images are archived to separate external drives, plus DVDs, as per the DAM book. Is there a better way to set up this hardware configuration? Thanks in advance.

David,
Sounds good to me. I've really gotten used to having more internal drives...

I would switch the drives. Use the bigger drive for data, and the smaller one for the OS and applications. I don't see how one would have 500 GB of applications. My current C: drive, even with some data on it, doesn't fill my 200 GB, while I had to buy an extra data drive to hold additional data.

Gus: David's plan is to use the larger drive for BOTH OS/apps and a second archive copy of his data.  I was in a similar situation with my Windows machine (200GB and 160GB internal drives), but I did was to place OS and apps on a small partition (around 50GB) on the 200GB drive and use the rest for data along with the entire 160GB drive.  Then I bought a 500GB Mybook external drive where I have a backup copy of the data.  I also place files I am currently editing on the small OS partition.  It works for me until I upgrade in the next year or two.
