I love RapidFixer but Bridge would crash after only processing 20+ files saying "not enough memory". There are only 250 files in the folder. Adobe Bridge is on version 2.1.1.9

I've tried dumping the cache from both "Camera Raw Preferences...." and "Preferences..." , but Bridge with Rapid Fixer still crashes after only working on 20+ files.

I have a hard drive partition (70 GB) dedicated to store the cache files. This is how the partition looks like:
Drive F (Scratch Disk): 70 GB
Drive G (AppTempFiles): 70 GB
As of now, Drive G is practically empty and should accomodate whatever space required for caches.

Here's my set up in Camera Raw Preference (Version 4.3.1):
------------------------------------------------------
Camera Raw Cache
Maximum Size: 20.0 GB
Select Location: G:Adobe
------------------------------------------------------

And here's my set up when I clicked "Preferences..." in Bridge:
-----------------------------------------------------------
Checked the "Automatically Export Caches To Folders When Possible"
Cache Location: G:Adobe
Cache Size: slider all the way to the right next to "Larger"
-----------------------------------------------------------

Forgot to mention, I'm running Win XP 64-bit with 4 GB of RAM.

Any idea what I might be missing or set up incorrectly?

Thank you.

David,
Can you check and see if the ACR cache is *really* getting dumped when you click the button?  I have sound that this sometimes happens.

How exactly are you dumping caches?

Also, are you seeing any other strange or flakey Bridge performance?  RapidFixer is getting Bridge to do some plain-vanilla stuff, but it does make Bridge work harder than it ordinarily would, so it's kind of like the canary in the coal mine.

Thank you for your reply, Peter.

This is how I dump the cache:
1.  Start Bridge (Bridge open an existing folder with 141 items).
2.  Go to Edit->Camera Raw Preference...  then in "Camera Raw Cache" I clicked the Purge Cache button.  At this point,  the Camera Raw Cache location is still pointing to G:\Adobe\          Before I clicked "Purge Cache", I went to G:\Adobe\ folder to confirm that the cache files were there at the size of 465 MB.  After "Purge Cache" I checked the G:\Adobe\ folder again, and this time the cache files are no longer exist.
3.  Then, still in Bridge, I went to Edit->Preferences... and I click "Purge Cache" button.  In this setting, I also set the Cache Location to G:\Adobe\ folder.

Did I miss a step?

Thank you.

David,
Have you purged preferences?

You may also want to reset workspaces.

Peter,

Yes, I always purge preference by going to Edit->Preferences->Purge Cache in Bridge.
Following your suggestion, I just reset workspace by going to Windows->Reset to Default Workspace.

So Peter, what would you recommend for the size of the thumbnails, if that makes any difference at all, to prevent Bridge from crashing?
I'm still working on RapidFixer and Bridge on 141 files as I'm typing this.

I'm going to reset the workspace to default setting just to see if it makes any difference.

David,
Actually, I was talking about purging the preferences themselves, as outlined in this thread

http://thedambook.com/smf/index.php?topic=1214.0

Purging Cache and Preferences are the first things to try.  Of course, you'll need to go into the Bridge Preferences and set everything back to the way you want it after the reset.  If you don't know the settings by heart, you might want to write them down before the reset.

Hi Peter -

I reset Bridge's Preference by pressing ctrl-shft-alt while starting Bridge (confirmed by the pop up message box) in addition to purge the cache and ACR's cache.   But RF and Bridge just crashed again just before I wrote this.

Any other idea?

David,
The next thing to try is to make a new user and try running Bridge from that account.
