I think you need to have iview 3.0 to get the upgrade price.

But, really, when you see upgrade on Amazon, etc, there is no mention of anything.

Has anyone actually  tested trying to upgrade from Iview 2.6? would I be ok or not? anyone know? thanks.

No. You need iView MediaPro 3 to "upgrade":

FWIW xMedia was more a Microsoft rebranding, security patch, and and minor bug fix compared to MediaPro 3. Depending on your requirements it may be worth waiting a few months for xMedia 2 rather than buy v1 or iView now.
