rapid fix has numerous faulty buttons on my version, has since I got it months ago.  Never got a solution since I posted long ago.
New bridge CS3 Mac osx.4.11
cleared prefs
also there is no "post new topic" button for me in rapid fix discussions

also when rapid fix is done, there is no symbol in the raw dialogue thumbnails to show the image has been modified.
Also, when my session times out here, the back button does not work.

Steve,
Let's work through these one at a time.

Are you applying a Camera Raw Default to the image before using RapidFixer?

Does Bridge work fine otherwise? (RapidFixer pushes Bridge pretty hard, so problems Bridge is having will show up here first)

Have you tried purging Thumbnails? (Command-Option-Shift on startup of Bridge)

Are you letting the entire folder of images cache before starting RapidFixer work?

How many images in the folder?

You do not say what hardware you are on.

Peter

Thank you Peter,
1) raw default: no I thought raw images came in default.
2) bridge ok usually, occasional crash
3) yes cmd-opt-shift
4) yes fully cached
5) 119 items .nef
6) Mac OSX.4.11 G5 2.5 dual, bridge 2.1.1.9, much ram

Steve,
You need to first apply a Camera Raw Default.  The images are *shown* to you with the defaults, but the defaults are not *assigned* to the file until you tell Bridge to do this.  You can do this by selecting the image(s) and hitting the DEF button on the top left, or by using the menu item in the Edit>Develop Settings>Apply Camera Raw Defaults menu.

Once you apply the defaults, RapidFixer should behave as expected.

also it seems odd when i run "def" default button, the "altered" icons APPEAR.
I thought true default state would show NO operations applied, no icons (bridge)

Steve,
The tooltip for Temp and Tint let you know that you first need to assign a value to the White Balance (like Daylight or Tungsten). Camera Raw does not assign specific values to this when you have White Balance set to Auto or As Shot.

The Default state is not no settings.  THere always have to be some settings that are used to interpret the file.  THere is no such thing as displaying the file with no settings.  Digital files, for instance, have no inherent color temperature.

So while the image is first displayed with the assumptions programed into the Default, those valuse are not *assigned* to the file, they are just *assumed*.

The badge on the thumbnail means that there are settings assigned to the file.

You might want to try and choke through the White Paper I wrote that is linked in the General section of the forum.
