In Iview/Expression media does it matter weather my entered keywords start with caps or lower case? ie; if I typed in Blooms as a keyword for a photo of flowers, & later I do a search for & type blooms, will it still pull up this photo or must I type in Blooms like I did for the original keyword every time I do a search for "blooms"? I have entered keywords like this for alot of photos so far & would be too tedious to go back over them all. Also if I type in say, for a photo of The Oceanside pier; Keywords; Oceanside pier, & later I want to do a search of just piers, would it pull up the photo of the Oceanside pier? or must the keyword pier be among keywords for this photo? In expression media/ iview, I enter year my 1st & last name for photos I took in the copyright space in the annotations field, is this a good practice even though I have not registered these photos with the copyright office, I have read a little about copyright & read that it is valid even if art is not registered, that it takes affect the minute you complete an artwork.

Sossity,
The keywords issue is one to test for yourself (pretty easy to determine).Try opening the Keywords panel.

As to the copyright info, yes, put it in even if it's not registered.

I have added my name to the file names & a copyright with my name to  photos I have taken, do I need to do this for photos on my originals drive that other people took? like family members? so far I have just added their credit in the keywords area for example, a photo taken by my dad,I keyword those photos with" photos by ( my dads name.) is this enough? or should I add dads name in the copyright area in the annotations field & his initials & or his name in the file names for the photos? just like mine? if so I would have to go back over my originals drive & add this additional meta data to photos like this which are among over a thousand photos. What about the  photos where I am not sure exactly who took the photo? & still there are photos family members took where photos were prohibited, in this case for photos like this are they better left without a name any where since it was obtained against rules? Most likely family members photos will not be in the public but sent around among friends & family, I want to be fair in handling their photos. I have so far just rated my photos mine & other peoples photos) with stars but have not added any color codes do I need the color codes? I want to get my ratings, meta data, etc settled before I back up my buckets to discs.

Sossity,
It's hard for us to say what you should do, since we don't know your priorities.
Adding copyright notice is only important if you want to prevent others from unauthorized use, which many non-pros don't mind. (And notice gives a small level of protection, next to actual copyright registration.)

As to the importance of the author, that is a personal need.  Is it worth it for you?  Hard to say.  You'll have to make that decision your self.

As to the timing of archiving the buckets, I'd say go ahead and do it sooner rather than later, as long as you add metadata with a catlaoging program.  If you use iView/Expression/idImager/iMatch, you have all the metadata changes in the catalog, which can be pushed into a set of images at any point in time.
