Sometimes I have a folder that contains both JPG and CR2 files. When I want to work on just the RAW files in Bridge, I'll do a search for all files containing "CR2".

However, I've discovered that Rapid Fixer has no effect doesn't show its results on the thumbnail when you're working with search results. Is this a limitation of Bridge, or is there a way around this. It's not a big issue, since I don't shoot JPG very often, but I'm curious if I'm doing something wrong.

Paul,
Do you mean Rank and File?
I don't understand the question.

No, I just bought and installed Rapid Fixer. If I'm viewing search results (as opposed to just viewing a directory), any changes I make using the Rapid Fixer buttons appear to have absolutely no effect. Note that this is search results, not filtering by ranking or labels (which I haven't tried, but worked in your movies).

For example, say I have a directory with 25 JPG files and 10 CR2 files. I only want to see the CR2 files to make my RAW adjustments, so I do a search for all files that have the string "CR2" in the filename. I get a result set with my 10 RAW files.

Now, if I make a change -- any change, be it white balance, exposure corrections, color tints, etc. -- it does NOT reflect on my displayed thumbnails.  However, if I clear the search results (by clicking on the directory again, to reload it and show all 25 files), all the changes appear on the thumbnails. Even the ones that I clicked multiple times because I wasn't sure it was working.

Like I said, it's not a serious issue, but it's probably something you should be aware of if others have problems. I suppose a workaround could be to search for all CR2 files, apply a label to all of them, clear the search, then  apply a filter to show labeled only.

BTW, when I bought Rapid Fixer, paypal added $3.00 for shipping. Am I going to get a CD as well as the download?

Paul,
Now I get what you are saying.  The thumbnails in the Bridge Search Results window are "frozen" and do not update with any changes that you make.

This appears to be a limitation of Bridge.  I ran into this recently with something else I was trying to do with Bridge search results, but I can't remember exactly what.

I'll ask Arno if this is a bug or a feature of Bridge.  As you surmise, this means that you can't use "Collections" in Bridge with RapidFixer.  You can, of course, use Filter.

As to the handling charge, it does not mean that you will get a CD.  Right now this is a very manual process for us, a limitation of Paypal.  We hope to automate it soon, but are having trouble getting it to work reliably.

What the handling charge does cover, is our ability to send you a new copy if you need one, as well as sending you updates as we add functionality (some functionality will be added free, some will be an upgrade).

We are having internal debates here at DAMuseful headquarters as to whether to remove the handling charge entirely.  Now that the price has gone up to 39.95, the "remove" side appears to be winning.  This does not mean a rebate will be coming, however.

I don't mind paying the extra $3 at all.

However, I seem to remember the checkout form labeling it as "shipping and handling". From a consumer's standpoint, I'd prefer to see the $3.00 charge rolled into the intial price. It's a little less misleading that way. I can't think of any other place on the internet that charges shipping and handling for a downloadable file.

Keep in mind, I'm not complaining at all about the price. It's definitely worth the price, and more. It's just the terminology that I'm questioning.

Paul,
The VERY nice lady in charge of our order fulfillment department (my wife Alyson) has decided that she will take the handling charges off both products now, since we're moving enough of them to now make it worth her while.;-)
