applying keywords

When I go to do keywords to a group of photos in a folder, that I have highlighted in expression media, I find it easier to apply my keywords to all of them;
For example; 4 pics in the folder are; 1.a sunset 2. my cat 3. some flowers 4. a beach scene I would highlight all of these & make these keywords for them; sunsets, cat, cats, plants, flowers, sunsets, skys, beach, beaches. This seems to be more efficient as opposed to doing keywords for each photo that is different, this seems so tedious & would take me forever as I have on avarge I take 50-3000 photos a month. if I do a search for sunsets, it would pull up the sunsets I have in addition to the other photos, but I would still get my sunsets. Is this OK or should I try to group similar subject matters 1st & then do keywording? does it matter if a photo has a few keywords that do not apply to it as well as ones for it? also does it matter wheather the keywords start with a capital letter? & if so do I need to go back to previously key worded photos & recap or decap their keywords? I also dont use much scientific names, more often common names, like cat instead of feline or felis, thought most people including experts know common names as well as scientific names.
another note, how do I get my photos to line up in the order I shot them, I had some open in expression media that I was renaming, & I used sequence numbers as I lost the original camera number & I used just one camera,( no mix ups of different cameras ) but I know that the photos that got 1,2,3 were not shot in that order.

Sossity,
Your keyword strategy seems sound. You know you can drag groups of files to the keywords panel to apply the keywords. That's generally how I do it.
(Once again, I think you're over-thinking this a bit, and should just plunge ahead.)
As to lining up in order, View>Sort>Capture Date

Thanks for the tip, I noticed in Expression media in the keywords field, it has been saving my keywords & the list is getting long, I can just scroll through, & use/auto fill keywords in for photos. Is there a way I can save that list ( that has built up in expression media) & print it or save it to a disc so I use the right keywords when I do a search? Also, is the keyword & search system limited to just expression media/iview? can I only do it through the software? & iview/expression media catalogs or can I do it through windows explore? & search my external hard drive? can expression media search my external hard drive using keywords? must there be iview/expression media catalogs? or can it just search hard drives existing folders that I made in windows explore?

Sossity,
You can use the controlled vocabulary preference to limit the keywords to approved ones.
You can export this list with the same preference.
If you synchronize the keywords back to the files, then many different pieces of software can see them. Give it a try and see if your OS, (or any other software you are curious about) can find the information.

Thank you, for the input, sorry if I need things spelled out am new to keywords; how does one go abut exporting my keyword list, & controlled vocabulary? I also tried to drag groups of photos to my keywords panel but I did not see anything happen, maybe I am missing something. As Peter suggested; I tried to run a search of my external hard drive with some photos that I had synced keywords to in expression media, using windows XP search function, telling to look for the word "sunsets" All it could find were 2 photos that were not of sunsets but had the word sunset in their file name, & these were ones I had not renamed & given any keywords to yet. I know there were more sunset photos there that I had added this keyword to.
