All of a sudden, one (and only one) of the folder icons in my 40,000-image catalog has a small downwards-pointing cyan-coloured arrow superimposed on the white rectangular "document" part of the icon.

I'm talking about the windows explorer-style nested folder hierarchy in the LHS "Organize" panel, labelled "Catalog Folders". Does anyone know what it means? It's not "auto-update" as that turns the whole icon (and its children) green and doesn't add the mysterious light blue (cyan) arrow.

I can't find any explanation of this in the iView manual or anywhere else... Any help would be much appreciated - thanks.

I believe it means that you have folder watching (but not auto updating) turned on, and that iView has detected new files in that folder that have never been imported into your catalog.
