No desktop previews generated in Camera Raw for tifs or dngs

Thanks for your superb book. Liked what I caught of your talk at the O'Reilly booth at the Mac Expo.

Before I received your book, I changed NEFs to DNG using Adobe  DNG Converter 3.2. The NEFS have desktop previews, but the DNGs and those images I saved as TIFF do not.

After reading your book, I again converted NEFs to DNGs using Adobe DNG Converter 3.2. No desktop previews. I repeated the "save as" tif, and again no desktop preview.

On this forum I found the iView Action menu suggestion, so I put  the DNGs and TIFFs in iView, followed your instructions, and now I have the desktop previews. Thanks

Though i use iView Media Pro, it seems to me I ought not to find it necessary to carry out this extra step.

Why is it that Bridge and CS2 cannot attach desktop previews from Camera Raw conversions for either the DMG or the tif.? Or am I missing something?

I agree, this should be a part of Bridge.  Maybe next version...
