Solid DAM Practice

I migrated to a new computer last December. Although it was a lemon out of the box, it took more than a little while to figure this out. From the middle of December until about 3 weeks ago, I had 4 hard drive crashes, two reformats, one service call to the home, two service calls where I had to ship the computer out. I reinstalled the OS twice and my programs 5 times. Five.
In the meanwhile, I had to set up my old computer while the computer was shipped out (twice.) I was also given a third computer by a friend. Luckily, this gift was given the day before the last crash.
But, all of my files were stored and cataloged off of the main drive. The "working" directory was backed up, twice. The cataloges from IVIEW were up to date and backed up. So I didn't loose one client file, or one personal file.
I've lost sleep, money, and time because I made the mistake of buying a PC in December. (I've always been a PC person.) But I didn't even need to think twice about loosing any work.
My friend gave me a MAC, and I'll never look back.
SO... the money I spent to take Peter Krogh's workshop through ASMP was some of the best money I've ever invested in my business. Ever.
Thanx.

Wow, that is some story. I am sorry to hear that you went through so much grief, but as you say, you weathered the storm pretty well by following the DAM practices being advocated by Peter and others at this forum. These are real issues, and thanks to DAM practices we have real tools to address those issues.
Your story brings home this message loud and clear.
Cheers ... Alan
