Rick,

I have used both auto importing as well as manual via the File>Import Items>From Files/Folders command. I have not decided on whch is better. For me, the act of bringing images into the catalog is a conscious, deliberate step after preparation in ACR (image manipulation, DNG)  and Bridge (bulk and simple metadata), so I use the manual process more frequently.

For the purposes of the image rotation test, I was using the manual command.

Cheers ... Al

Al  -  I was just wondering if you had any issues with the auto-rotation depending on the way you brought your images into iView.

Rick, sorry for the tardy reply ... I have tried both the manual import and folder watching techniques and both seem to work for me. Maybe I'm lucky, although that is not consistent with other aspects of my life.

Some other recent observations ...
  • When rotating jpegs in IVMP3 you need to use the "JPEG rotate" command to have it visible in Bridge
  • When rotating a DNG in IVMP3, if you use the View>rotate command, it does rotate the thumbnail and the image as shown on the media tab. JPEG rotate seems to have no effect, even though the embedded preview is jpeg. Rotations on DNG files in IVMP do not seem to have visibility in Bridge. This is not suprising

Cheers ... Al

Al  -  Glad to see it's working for you!  I've got my info into iView Support so I'm sure they'll figure it out.
