GPS data on Primary download, but not backup

Here's something I'm not sure about, in terms of whether this is supposed to be the case or not,
but when I was ingesting cards, the primary was onto the laptop, and the backup to a G-Tech mini
drive. I was going to transfer the files to my MacPro, and I was using the backup G-Tech to do that,
assuming the files would be the same on the laptop as on the G-tech b/u. I loaded the files from
the backup to the big machine, and dropped on Bridge, to find the GPS data not in the files. I checked the laptop,
and all the GPS data was in the Primary download on the laptop. Are the files on the back up and the
laptop supposed to be same? Maybe my laptop is a bit screwy, or am I missing something, knowledge wise?
