Rick,
Correct, the Urgency field should update to correspond to the Lable setting in iView when you sync back t the file.

David,
A browser will see what's in any folder you point it to.  In general, cataloging software will ignore files until you say "here is a file for you to pay attention to".  So even if a file is in a folder with other files it can see, that does not mean that the files have been "added " to the catalog.

The Update action you describe should do it.

Yes, you will have hundreds of keywords eventually.  That's one reason I like Catalog sets.  They are hierarchical, so they can be expanded and contracted as necessary.

Peter,

I just wanted to let you know that I tried getting the Urgency field to sync back and forth between iView and Bridge using a DNG file, but it doesn't appear to be working.  If I set the Urgency field to any value 1-5 in the File Info/Origin panel in Bridge, switch over to iView, do a sync annotations with import and prefer original selected, I do not get a colored label for that DNG in iView.  I even tried doing a Rebuild Item, no luck.
I then tried the reverse by setting the DNG to the first colored label for Star 1 followed by sync annotations export on the DNG, then checking the Urgency field for that DNG in Bridge, but the value did not change.  I would have expected to see it change to High.  I'm running under Windows.  This does appear to be either a bug or a change to a recent release of iView that no longer uses the Urgency field for lables.  Thanks.

I would be very surprised if iView changed where Labels were stored without some real fanfare, since this could be a real problem.  What version are you running? It's not in the release note for the 3.0.2 beta.

There may be some kind of bug here, but I have not had any time to test.

>I then tried the reverse by setting to DNG to the first colored label for Star

I don't understand this.

Peter,

I'm running version 3.0.1 build 4290.

I tried going the other way by addiing a colored label to a DNG in iView.  I picked the first label (1Star set according the book on page 203, a yellowish-orange color).  I then did a sync annotations for export.  I then went over to Bridge and brought up the File/Info/Origin panel for that DNG and examined the Urgency field.  It did not change.  I made sure the Urgency field was set to something other than High before performing the test...make sense?

Okay, just wanted to make sure you were talking about a label rather than a star.
I'm talking to iView this week. I'll try to remember to bring this up.

Great!  I'd really like to get this one working.

Peter,

I just wanted to bring this thread back to the surface.  Don't want it to slip through the cracks.  Did you ever get a chance to talk with iView about this?  It is kind of annoying for me every time I run Caption Maker; and it could also be symptom of other problems not yet known.  Thanks.
