Is it all sliders? I suspect Fill Light is the the worst culprit.

Hi

I am planning to make my workflow more efficient and want to start also with an appropriate DAM System. I am only a hobby photographer, not a professional. I shoot between 100-1000 images per month (currently Nikon) and you can be sure, not all of them are keepers  Grin

So I found this forum. I am currently comparing the different options/combinations of the different software out there. One important point is for me the possibility to work on one hand with as few software as possible, but on the other hand obviously have the best software for the specific purpose. So I will split my questions over different threads and look in each questions only at specific details to make sure I do not miss anything. So here we are.

I was looking this week at LR and and compared it to CS2 which I already have. I looked also for 5 hours the video of Reichman about LR and I looked at a friend at LR on his computer and read almost all threads over the last 2 days here. I must admit that LR is in my personal view currently a lot more intuitive and better than CS2 regarding editing and printing.

Now CS3 is available and as said here already in the forum, both CS3 and LR are using the same ACR engine. Unfortunately I do not have a beta of CS3 (is there a possibiluty to get still a beta or CS3 trial without overwriting my CS2 ?)

My question in this thread is the comparison between "develop" and "print" in LR vs. the same options in CS3. As far as I could figure out, CS3 has still in these areas a different "layout". My questions are:

1. Has CS3 in these 2 areas mentioned above the exact same capability than LR (Tonecurves, histogramm, greyscale, print options, etc.) - LR is there a lot better than CS2

2. Is CS3 also as easy to use as LR in "develop" and "print"? (LR is there a lot better than CS2)

3. Only regarding the RAW editing in CS3: Has CS3 anything very useful, that LR does not have? (CS2 is i.e. better than LR in sharpening, Noise & changing colours only in specific areas)

Thanks in advance

Snoopy (Name, please)
That's pretty off topic (particularly since this area is for DAMuseful products, which are add-ons to CS2 and CS3).  If someone wants to answer you fine.

I think you may be just as happy to use LR for most of your work, and then move image off to Photoshop CS2 when you need that capability. If you can also afford it, there are lots of cool features in CS3 that are well worth the price of upgrade.
