Hert, how many images can you put in idImager.

Hi Peter,

idImager is limited by the size of the database. The personal edition uses MSAccess database which is limited at 2GB of size. The Professional Edition can work with SQLServer Express or SQLServer 2005. Express is limited at 4GB and 2005 is "unlimited".

FYI; idImager does not store thumbnails inside the database, prevening the database from flooding too fast.

Hert,
Where do you put the thumbnails?  In a sidecar file?

Hi Peter,

IDI stores the thumbnails on the file system in a dedicated subfolder within the catalog folder (where the database files files are stored), not as sidecar files.

Q for Hert-
You referred to idImager "personal edition" and "Professional edition"- on you site, I didn't see any reference to 2 different flavors of the product. Can you clarify what one is getting if purchasing from the site? Thanks, Bill

Hi Bill,

idImager Pro is currently in Beta. Once it is officially released (within 2 weeks), there will be a 2 week period where existing customers can upgrade to Pro for free. Registered users can also participate in the public beta program for the Pro edition.

Hert, will existing IDI customers get an e-mail to let them know about the 2-week free upgrade period or should we just keep checking the site for the official release?

Hi Onlyme,

Yes, registered customers will receive an e-mail as soon as the pro is released. This mail will also include the 2 week upgrade offer.
