I've just uploaded Beta 12, with these new features:

  • There's now a second, post-ingestion backup, so DNGs can be backed up if you're converting.
  • Two user-interface improvements have been made to the Naming tab on the Preferences panel: There's a designation on the drop-down menus as to whether numbers are Filename or Auto Numbers, and there's a hint at the bottom about checking Show Macros if you want to customize the specification.
  • The Update Check checkbox on the Preferences Panel has been moved to the Apps tab from the General tab, which has been removed.
  • The registration system has been implemented, but licenses are free during the beta period. Choose "Buy License" on the ImageIngesterPro menu to get a free license.
This beta is very close to final. All planned features are in, and I've touched up the user interface a bit.

As usual, let me know if you encounter any problems or if you see anything that makes you think it's not ready for release.

I've decided that the final price will be $40 instead of $50. I have a bit more work on the multi-camera shoot feature (which I don't believe anyone but me has ever used), which should only take a day or so. I should have the released version posted in a week or two.

Marc,

I just want you to know that you really are torturing me by not putting out a Windows version.  I actually starting having nightmares about switching to a Mac.  I didn't eat for two days.  I do hope you will address this issue before I have another relapse.  Oh, and while your at it, can you test it on Vista.  I will be switching to that real soon ;-).

Dan--

I think ImageIngester runs on Vista, based on some feedback I've gotten from a user.

I plan to start the Windows version of ImageIngesterPro next week. The job will take about a month of work, but it may take me 6 months to get that month in. Sadly, my day job is going very well. (Hmmmm... somehow that didn't come out right.)

Dawnne--

Can you give me some more info about your firstborn? Age? Sex? Potty-trained yet? Knowledge of Windows programming? Is the cat mandatory, or a Preference Panel option?

Darn.

You figured it out. The nearly-12-year-old boy has decided to quit doing his homework, and the cat exists in a perpetual state of believing that any passer-by should feed him immediately.

The boy does, however, really enjoy software testing (he even helps me in my beta duties for GameTap), and the cat is an old hand at cleaning up under the dinner table. He'd make a nice system tray icon, though.
